Common Work Order Tasks
The following expanding sections explain common tasks you are likely to perform while working with work orders.
Issue a Work Order
Requirements

Appropriate user permissions

Work Order must have a status of Requested or On Hold

You must be on the Work Order Summary or Work Order Detail page
To issue a work order:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Issue.
A dialog box opens, asking you to confirm your choice.

Tap the Yes button.
The work order is issued.
Place a Work Order On Hold
Requirements

Appropriate user permissions
-
You must be on the Work Order Summary or Work Order Detail page
To place a work order on hold:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Place on Hold.
Depending on your organization's configuration, you may be prompted to add explanatory information. The text entered will be appended to the existing Labor Report of this work order.
If your organization is not configured to prompt for additional information, you will simply receive a warning asking you to confirm that you want to place the work order on hold.

Tap the Save button.
The work order is placed on hold.
Deny or Cancel a Work Order

Appropriate user permissions

You can only deny a Requested work order

You can only cancel a Issued work order
-
You must be on the Work Order Summary or Work Order Detail page
To cancel or deny a work order:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Cancel or Deny.
Depending on your organization's configuration, you may be prompted add explanatory information. The text entered will be appended to the existing Labor Report of this work order.
If your organization is not configured to prompt for additional information, you will simply receive a warning asking you to confirm that you want to cancel or deny the work order.

Tap the Save button.
The work order is either canceled or denied.
Reissue a Closed Work Order
Requirements

Appropriate user permissions

You must be on the Work Order Summary or Work Order Detail page
To reissue a closed work order:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Re-Issue.
A dialog box opens, asking you to confirm your choice.

Tap the Yes button.
The work order is re-issued.
Add a Note to a Work Order
An option to add a note to the work order is available from the Work Order Summary or Detail page. Once you create a note, it can be viewed by all users on the Work Order Detail Activity tab.
To create a note:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Add Note.
-
Enter your note.
-
Tap the Save button.
The created note is visible on the Work Order Detail – Activity tab.
Update the Labor Report
The Labor Report provides a description of the work being performed and is most often updated using the Status Update process. This method ensures that the status of the work order is updated properly along with the Labor Report. However, you may want to make a quick update of the Labor Report outside of the Status Update process.
To edit the Labor Report directly:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Update Labor Report.
The Labor Report update page displays.

Enter any descriptive information into the Labor Report Update field.
If configured to display at your organization, an option may be available to add predefined comments to the Labor Report. In addition, if there has been any previous entries to the Labor Report, they display directly below the field.
The entry shown in the Existing Labor Report section can be updated unless a lock is displayed to the right of the label. If a lock is displayed, your organization has configured this page to only allow additions to the existing Labor Report.

Create a Follow-Up Work Order

You must be on the Work Order Summary or Work Order Detail page
To create a follow up work order:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.

Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Create Follow Up.
The New Work Order page displays, with a number of fields already populated:
-
Reason — The reason for the work order will be automatically populated, providing information regarding the source work order.

Asset — The asset will be pre-populated based on the existing work order's defined asset.
-
Requester — This field will be populated with your information, as you are the individual requesting the work order.

Additional Fields — Additional default values will be populated from the defined asset and normal work order defaults.

Make any necessary changes.

Tap the Save button.
MC Express saves the new work order and displays the Work Order Summary page for the newly created work order.
Delete a Work Order
Requirements

Appropriate user permissions

You must be on the Work Order Summary or Work Order Detail page
Work Orders are rarely deleted unless they were created in error. Instead, work orders are typically canceled or denied.
To delete a work order:

Access the Work Order Summary or Detail page.
-
Tap the Action button in the section header.
The Action menu opens.

Select Delete Work Order.
A dialog box opens, asking you to confirm your choice.

Tap the Yes button.
The record is deleted and you are returned to the Work Order List.
