Tools and Tool Rooms

The Tools module stores tools that are used to complete work order tasks. Tools that will be required are often specified in procedures, which are then automatically populated onto work orders as estimated costs. Since tools are borrowed rather than purchased, there is no immediate cost reflected on associated work orders. They are populated onto the Estimated Costs page so that they can be conveniently listed with other material required to complete the work order.

The Tool Rooms module specifies the rooms in which the tools are stored.

To access the Tools and Tool Rooms modules:

1. Choose between two options:

   • Click the Open button on the toolbar.

   • Click the Module menu button displayed in the List pane.

     The Module menu will display.

2. Choose between two options:

   • Click the Tools option.

     • If you accessed the Module menu from the Open button, the Tools list and the Tools Work Center Home Page will display.

     • If you accessed the Module menu from the Module Menu button, the Tools list will display, but the content of the Work Center will not change until you have selected a record.

   • Click the Tool Rooms option.

     • If you accessed the Module menu from the Open button, the Tool Rooms list and the Tool Rooms Work Center Home Page will display.

     • If you accessed the Module menu from the Module Menu button, the Tool Rooms list will display, but the content of the Work Center will not change until you have selected a record.

   The tools and tool rooms defined for your organization are listed in the appropriate list. Click a tool or tool room to open and view it in the Work Center.
