Asset Details: General Information
General information about the asset is provided at the top of the Asset Details page:

Parent - asset ID of parent
The asset name of the parent is listed directly below the ID. To select or modify the parent field, you can click and drag a new value onto the field or use the Asset / Location lookup.

Class - asset classification to which this asset is associated
Asset classification commonly populates default values onto numerous fields in the Asset module. Depending on the configuration of the chosen Asset Classification, this can also lock some fields. You can use the Classification lookup to select an asset classification.

Type - the type of asset, either type A (equipment asset) or type L (location asset)
If the value is not locked based on the designated asset classification, use the Type lookup to indicate whether the record is an asset or location. For further clarification, see: Assets vs. Locations.

Asset ID - unique identifier for the asset If the asset is not a location, then the ID field is populated as asset classification (unique ID). Whether or not Maintenance Connection automatically generates this ID for you when creating a new asset depends on settings in Asset Preferences.

Asset Barcode - a barcode icon is displayed to the right of the asset ID
Clicking the icon opens the Print / Preview Barcode window, displaying the barcode for the asset.
A QR Code also displays if enabled for your organization, provide direct log in to MC Express

Name - descriptive name for asset displayed in the Asset List
If the field is not locked based on the designated asset classification, you can enter a desired name.

Status - indicates whether the asset is in service and/or available for service requests
Modifying the In-Service check box prompts you to enter downtime or return to service details upon saving your changes.
The Available for Service Requests check box determines whether the asset is available for people to create service requests for it from the Service Requester. The Sub-Status field allows you to provide more descriptive information as to the reason an asset has been taken out of service.

Service Contracts - assets with service contracts defined on the Related Info: Contracts page have their contract status listed below the status indicators

Location Info - location (type L) assets have address fields and latitude/longitude coordinates displayed below the status indicators
Equipment (type A) assets have only latitude/longitude coordinates.

Photo — Controls to attach or remove a photo.
The photo of the asset also displays on the Work Order Detail page and Calendars.
