Clone Inventory Item

You can clone inventory items in the event that a new item has similar attributes to an existing item. The clone feature has the following attributes:

• The feature creates a new inventory item with an Item ID comprised of the original item's ID, followed by an incremental number.

• The new inventory item has the same Inventory Item Details as the original item.

• Any associated records—such as documents, notes, vendors, and specifications—are copied into the new record.

• The new item has the same inventory as that defined for the original item.

To clone an inventory item:

1. Access the inventory item you want to clone.

2. Click the Clone button.

   A dialog box opens, asking you to confirm your choice.

3. Click the Yes button.

   Maintenance Connection clones the record and displays the new record on the page. The new record has an Item ID that matches the cloned record, with the addition of an incremental number.

   For example, if the cloned record had an Inventory Item ID of OILFILTER, the newly created item could have an Item ID of OILFILTER-2. The name of the new item is the same as the cloned item.

4. Make your changes.

5. Click the Save button.

   Your changes are saved.
