Labor

The Labor module stores a record for each labor resource used by your organization. Most labor resources are employees or contractors assigned to perform maintenance work. Individual contractors can be listed as well as general companies (a work order can be assigned to a contracting company, rather than a specific individual). The administrators and supervisors who assign, approve, and otherwise manage the work order process are also included in this module.

Labor resources that are members of Maintenance Connection can view their assignments / work orders and additional information that is being maintained about the asset directly in the system through the Technician Work Center or MRO Work Center. Those who are not members receive their assignments from an administrator via hard copy or email.

To access the Labor module:

  1. Choose between two options:

    • Click the Open button on the toolbar.

    • Click the Module menu button displayed in the List pane.

      The Module menu will display.

  2. On the module menu, click Labor.

    • If you accessed the module menu from the Open option on the toolbar, the Labor List and the Labor Work Center page displays.

    • If you accessed the module menu from the Module Menu control, the Labor List displays, but the content of the Work Center will not change until you have selected a record.

Two additional modules store important information associated with labor records:

  • The Crafts Module stores the special skills that are required to perform maintenance tasks, such as Electrician 1st Class, Carpenter, and so on. These crafts are associated with each labor resource to ensure that work orders are assigned to individuals with the requisite skills.

  • The Training Module stores licenses and training certifications that labor resources (technicians) possess. Examples could include CPR Certifications or Contractor Licensing.
