Remove a User Lock
The Password Management feature can be used to remove a lock from a user record that has been put in place due to excessive failed login attempts. This typically only affects online hosted customers.
Locks are recorded at the user-level, rather than at the member-level. This means that a locked user with access to multiple databases (entities) will be prohibited from logging into any accessible database.
To remove a user lock:
-
Select Tools > Members > Password Management from the Main Menu.
The Password Management window opens.
-
Locate and select the record you want to update.
The Edit Member window opens, with the Password fields blank.
Accessing the Edit Member window requires you to reset the password for that member. Because users are usually locked out because they have lost their password, resetting the password minimizes repeated lock-outs since the user is able access the system with the temporary password and then reset their password as desired from their security profile.
-
Enter a temporary password in the Password fields.
-
Select the Unlocked option button.
-
Click the Apply button.
The Password Management Members page appears.
This feature can also be used to lock a user record. However, this will prohibit the user from logging into any database (entity) to which he or she is connected. It is typically preferable to Disable the Member in the Member module. This will ensure the member cannot log into the specified database.
